Marie Laura Liberty (Mia) was born in Athens, Greece. She is half Greek, and part Ioway Indian, Scottish, and French. She loves outdoor cafes and cabins on the lake. She started writing stories and illustrating when she was very young.
She has been published in ten publications, including the Blackwater Review and Voices. She has also published numerous articles in the Northwest Florida Daily News and Pensacola News Journal. Her book of poetry Scorched on a Vine was published in 2000. Her first novel Little Miss Right Now was published in 2008.
Marie received her Masters of Science in Psychology from Troy University in 2001. Later on, she would also pursue her Elementary Education Certification, which she received in 2008.
Although her favorite subject in school has always been English, her true passion for life has been working with children. She has taught early reading and creative writing to youth for OSTC and has recently started a writing club for children. She has been writing for 25 years and is working on her next book.
She currently lives in northwest Florida with her son who she claims he is her greatest masterpiece. He has inspired her to write and illustrate several children's books. In addition to the family, are two furry friends, Bella and Sam. They keep things messy, chaotic, and interesting!
